AYUTTHAYA ANCIENT TEMPLES AND ELEPHANT RIDING FULL DAY TOUR (DT157)

Description

  • 06:15-07:15 Pickup from your hotel in Bangkok or meeting point in Bangkok and travel by minibus to the city of Ayutthaya which is located to the north of Bangkok.
  • 09:00 Arrive at the city of Ayutthaya. Here you will first visit Wat Yai Chaimongkhon which was built by King U-Thong in 1357 for meditation purposes. After Wat Yai Chaimongkhon you will visit Wat Mahathat which is famous for the sand-stone Ayutthaya-style head of the Buddha image entwined in the roots of a giant fig tree. After Wat Mahathat you will visit Wat Phra Si Sanphet which was the Thai capital for over 400 years. After Wat Phra Si Sanphet you will then visit the Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Royal Kraal where you will ride an elephant (20 minutes). After the elephant ride you will visit Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit which is where one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in Thailand is located.
  • 12:30 Lunch at local Thai restaurant.
  • 13:00 After lunch you will visit Wat Lokaya Sutha which is famous for its giant reclining Buddha. After Wat Lokaya Sutha you will then visit Wat Phu Khao Thong which locates a 50 meter high chedi or Buddhist tower.
  • 14:30 After enjoying the beautiful temples in the ancient city of Ayutthaya it is time to depart back to Bangkok.
  • 16:00-16:30 Return to Khaosan Road area of Bangkok.
